​Jessica "Menma" Davids, grew up in a small city consisting of nearly 100,000 people, there she grew up with her parents and her brother who is 2 years younger than her. Her family isn't rich, but they got by with both parents working during the day. Her mother worked in marketing for a business that owned a few of the restaurants in the city. While her father worked at one of the middle schools as a substitute teacher.

From around the time she turned 5 she has been able to see a, green colored, gassy liquid emit from her and pour out onto the ground. Her family thought that she was playing a game when she spoke about it. 

One day while she was eight years of age, she was playing outside with her younger brother. Her brother climbed up the tree in front of their house, but his hand slipped and he started falling. Menma noticed this and she reached her hands out in front of her to try to catch him. When she did this the green colored stuff emitting from her extended up to her brother slowing him down before he hit the ground
